Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to be fit in time to take on Ajax in the first leg of JuventusChampions League quarter-final tie.

Massiliano Allegri issued an injury update on the forward, who picked up a thigh problem while on international duty with Portugal.

Ronaldo has not played since the international break and will miss Juventus’ Serie A game against Cagliari on Tuesday night after sitting out the weekend’s win over Empoli.

Ajax welcome Juventus to the Amsterdam Arena on 10 April, and Allegri admitted Ronaldo was facing a race against time to feature.

‘Cristiano Ronaldo is working to get back, we hope to have him ready for Ajax, but it will be difficult,’ Allegri said ahead of the clash with Cagliari.

Ronaldo insisted he would miss just two weeks to the thigh injury and Juventus will not want to be without their star man.
