Wednesday,November 28, 2018 - Deputy President William Ruto’smega beach hotel in Mombasa is almost complete.

The hotel that sits on a 10-acre parcel andestimated to cost a staggering Sh600m, made headlines in August afterjournalists from a local media house were clobbered when they visited the site.

The National Environmental Authority (NEMA)had threatened to halt its further construction for encroaching on the IndianOcean and blocking access to the beach.

However, Nema has since given thecontractors a clean bill of health.

“Aninspection was done and the sand that had been deposited and leveled on thebeach has been removed,” Mombasa Nema boss, Stephen Wambua, said.

“We gave an order, they complied, weinspected and gave them a clean bill of health,” Mr Wambua added.

The facility dubbed Dolphin Hotel will bethe biggest in Mombasa and is expected to give Pride Inn Paradise Hotel(currently the biggest hotel with 300 guest rooms) a run for their money.

This is DP Ruto’s second hotel after thecontroversial Weston Hotel in Nairobi as he makes forays into the hospitalityindustry.
